Dr. Nick Schmit grew up on a farm in Northeast Nebraska. He went to Wayne State College for his undergraduate degree and also ran track and cross country while at WSC. He attended veterinary school at both UNL and ISU in Lincoln, NE and Ames, IA through their joint degree program. He graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2020. Before moving to the Rapid City area, Dr. Schmit practiced in Central Iowa and Southeast South Dakota for the past 4 years. His wife, Elizabeth, is also a veterinarian and they have 2 young daughters and a cat named Zazu. In his free time, he still enjoys running as well as home improvement projects and time with his family. His veterinary special interests include weight loss, preventative care, and surgery.
